The First San Francisco World Music Festival 2000
The First Annual SFWMF in May 16-28 2000 was a tremendous success with world musicians from the Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York, Tuva, Armenia, and Iran. With approximately 20 different performance groups over the course of the 3-day Memorial Day weekend (Friday through Sunday) the festival presented Round Table Discussion moderated by Catherine Gollery, a World Music Film Screening curated by Stephen Parr and showcased the following world music artists:
Master Classes at San Francisco State University:
Palabuniyan Kulintang and "Southern Filipino Kulintang"; Jumping Buddha Ensemble and
"Chinese Music"; The Creative World Ensemble Master Class directed by Hafez Modirzadeh;
Dror Sinai and "Introduction to Hand Drumming"; Chirgilchin and "The Art of Tuvan Music".
