Door Dog Music Productions

Door Dog Music Productions is a non-profit presenting & production organization which supports and promotes the diversity of cultures of the world through the rich music within each culture. For over a decade, we continue to provide resources for musicians, educators, and the avid world music listeners.

The San Francisco World Music Festival, world music concerts, educational programs, master classes, national tours, & recording resources have been developed to provide quality performances with an international music focus. This ranges from world traditional music to contemporary explorations.

San Francisco World Music Festival
This is our annual event which brings together musicians from all over the world to the San Francisco Bay Area.

International Youth Music Initiative
Comprised of overseas music schools and a Bay Area based international music youth ensemble.

World Music In-Schools
Through this community outreach, especially at Alice Fong Yu, the importance of teaching youngsters their cultural music is emphasized.

World Music Performance Workshops
These are led by some of the most respected musicians in the field of world music.

Evening World Music Concerts
In the fashion of many Eastern traditions-where musicians and audience collaborate intimately in an environment which does not depend on microphones, elaborate lighting, sound design, or visual stimulation; an environment where the subtle nuances woven into the music can be clearly heard and experienced; and where barriers between audience and performer are broken down. Scheduled at various venues throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

 

Mission

The Mission of DDMP is to mentor, empower and showcase musicians, composers and artists that historically have been under-represented due to cultural, political and economic barriers and thus create a forum to promote global cultural understanding. DDMP presents performances, provides resources to sustain the social and artistic welfare of its participants and itself. It creates a multi-generational dialogue through its youth programs to promote the vitality of traditional cultures.

Vision

DDMP strives to identify, nurture and sustain threatened musical, artistic and cultural traditions throughout the world. DDMP is a leader in giving international musicians a voice through groundbreaking collaborations, commissions and performances. These activities bring diverse peoples together through music, creating opportunities to bridge cultural divides.
